Oreburg City!

Shinosuke:....Our eyes have met. We must battle.
*Without waiting for any confirmation, Shinosuke jumps ridiculously high, flying back and landing about a healthy battling distance, and pulls out pokeball*
Shinosuke: Don't fail me, Onix.
*Shinosuke tosses the ball, releasing his enormous Onix, and causing Whip to scurry away unnoticed*

Mana: Well, then! *places her two pokemon down and moving to take out Rose* I think I'll use-
Tsunami: *jumps into the field* PIP-PIP-PIP-LUP! *looks very proud*
Mana: *surprised, but quickly grins* Alright Tsunami! You're up then!
Tsunami: *seems to put fins/wings up similar to a boxer* PIPLUP!

Shinosuke: Don't assume that because you have the type advantage you'll win this. Onix! Use Body Slam!
*Onix takes off first, charging at Piplup with its entire body*

Mana: Tsunami, get out of the way by using bubble beam!
Tsunami: *jumps into the air and uses bubble beam at Onix, letting the pressure blow him back*

Shinosuke: Onix, Bind it.
*Despite flinching very hard from the bubblebeam, Onix's tail still fires out into the air, quickly encircling Piplup*

Tsunami: *tries to escape, but fails, and starts yelping once caught*
Mana: Aaahhh! Tsunami, hang in there! Aim and use bubble beam again!
Tsunami: *calms down enough to aim for Onix's neck and shoots out bubbles once again*

*Onix's neck seems to take the hit twice as badly as anywhere else, and his grip on Tsunami fails*
Shinosuke: Onix, rectify yourself.
*Onix seems to struggle a bit as it coils back up, ready to battle*
Shinosuke: Now, Rock Tomb.
*Onix obediently lifts one of the gym's enormous boulders from the ground with its tail and sends it sailing, creating an increasingly-growing shadow over Piplup*

Mana: Tsunami, you know what to do!
Tsunami: *running all over the place screaming as it moves to dodge the rock*
Mana: ...That works too!

Shinosuke: Quickly Onix, Slam.
*Onix's tail follows suit of the boulder, following Tsunami's trail*

Tsunami: PIP PIP PIP PIP PIP! *still running in zig zag formation*
Mana: KEEP IT UP TSUNAMI! YOU'RE DOING GREAT!
Volt: *looks at Mana worriedly* Shiiinx...?
Mana: Soon, soon, don't worry!

Shinosuke: That Piplup is far too energetic for its own good. Onix. Use Screech.
*Onix turns, opens its mouth, and suddenly the air is filled with a wretched noise that resembles the death-cry of a thousand metal-infused orangutans*

Mana: *covers ears from the screech* Gah!
Volt: *puts ears to the ground* Shiiiiiinx!!!
Tsunami: *covering his own ears* PIIIIIP! *gains angry anime eyes at Onix for hurting its ears and releases a rampage of bubbles at it*

Shinosuke: Onix-
*Onix is struck by the bubbles and, unable to hold his own weight, topples over*

Mana: *blinks in surprise* Whoa. *pauses, and then gives Tsunami a bright two-thumbs up* Way to go Tsunami~!
Tsunami: *puts his flippers/wings on his hips and puffs out his chest proudly* Pip!

Shinosuke: ....Detestable, but foreseen. Come back, Onix.
*Shinosuke recalls Onix to his pokeball*
Shinosuke: I suppose I still have conditioning to do. Commendable win, Mana.
*He nods to Mana*

Mana: *bows in return* Thanks!
Tsunami: *waddles up to Mana proudly* Pip!
Mana: *pets Tsunami* You did great, Tsunami~ *turns to Whip* So it seems that it only took one try for me~

*Whip pokes his head out from his hiding place, scowling at Mana*
Whip: Choke on an icicle!
Shinosuke: With this potential, I would suggest challenging the Gym's Leader.

Mana: Eh, I would, but I wanna train Rose first. So thanks, but I'll do that later~ (=3)

Shinosuke: As you wish.
*Whip hops out from behind*
Whip: My skills were pretty commendable too~
Shinosuke: Condemnable would be the adjective I would have used.
Whip:....Is there a difference?

Mana: ...Pft. *looks away as she holds in laughs*

*Whip squints his eyes angrily at Mana*
Whip: What're you giggling about?
Shinosuke: If neither of you are going to challange the Gym's leader-
Whip: Hey there, Sasuke! Nobody said anything about not taking on that gym leader!
Shinosuke: ....Are you sure you wouldn't prefer to train with your partner?
Whip: Train!? HAH! I'm already the best~
Shinosuke:....You were beaten by a trainer with but a single pokemon.
*Whip staggers*

Mana: *pulls out a burn heal and offers it to Whip with an expression that looks like she's ready to bust out laughing*

*Whip gumbles and grunts, and grudgingly snatches the burn heal from Mana*
Shinosuke: ....Anyways... the leader of this Gym is in the Underground. Should you have any qualms with waiting for him, you are more than welcome to seek him out yourself.
*Whip mockingly mimics Shinosuke with his hands, but is promptly ignored as he takes his leave for the healing center*
Whip: Jeez... what a sourpuss...

Mana: *raises an eyebrow in an amused fashion* I'm under the impression you just don't get along with the stoic types.

Whip: That's not true! I don't get along with adorable types either!
*Whip begins counting off of his finger*
Whip:...Or smoother people.... and I usually stumble around cute girls... really, anybody who's a threat to my skills~
